Initial programme of the Academy

  • Training courses for (young) politicians and candidates for political office in order to develop leadership and intermediate leadership skills
  • Further important skills specifically mentioned are skills in political communication, campaign techniques and fund-raising as well as basic knowledge of how to use office to serve constituents’ interests and needs

    • The initial focus will be on candidates for the upcoming provincial elections next year
    • Trainers will be successful campaigners, successful office-bearers and competent journalists or public relations professionals closely associated with the political parties.
    • In the following year the focus will be on people who have been newly elected (to help them accustom to their political tasks and to perform well) and on candidates for local elections
  • Training young activists/movers for important activities/campaigns between elections designed to sustain interest in the party on the part of both members and the general public
  • “Life skills” development courses for LYG youth in order to help them in their leadership roles among youth at local or village level and to help them to improve their employment prospects
  • Such courses shall also give participants the ability to pass acquired skills on to others
  • “Liberalism in practice”, introductory courses for political activists and for young office bearers interested in policy issues and policy development

    • Issue-oriented courses; little or no “theory”; but follow-up reading material for those who are interested
