On the invitation of the Common Wealth Human Rights Initiative (New Delhi) Mrs. Shyamila Perera- Executive Director –IDL participated in a learning visit to New Delhi & Gujarat on the subject of Right to Information.Five participants from 4 countries, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal & Afghanistan participated in the 10day program.
During this visit the participants had the opportunity of visiting & observing the PANCHAYAT system in India & how the RTI takes place at grass root level in the Indian society. They also visited many government organizations, Ngo’s & RTI activists etc.
